Experience

A writer, journalist and editor with more than 20 years’ experience in the magazine publishing industry, I’ve worked for magazine publishers in Ireland, the US, UK and Australia and have applied my editing skills not only to magazines, but also books, websites, promotional materials, education submissions and corporate and business correspondence. I spent 13.5 years working in IMAGE Media (formerly IMAGE Publications) in Dublin, first as Deputy Editor of IMAGE Magazine, Ireland’s leading women’s glossy, and then as Managing Editor across IMAGE and other titles as well as IMAGE.ie. Before IMAGE Media, I worked as Managing Editor for Ashville Media Group, a Dublin-based contract publisher, working across titles such as Maternity, Ireland at Your Leisure, A Buyer’s Guide to Irish Art, and in-house magazines for Ashford and Dromoland Castles. Having recently gone into self-employment, I continue to work with IMAGE Media as Contributing Features Editor of IMAGE Magazine as well as sub-editor on various projects.

Services offered

Proofreading, sub-editing and copy-editing; writing, ghost-writing or rewriting copy.

Media

Magazines, books (proofreading final drafts of fiction; extensive editing of non-fiction), newspapers, websites, e-zines, business materials (pitches, presentations, brochures, invitations, general corporate materials), dissertations and papers.

Subject areas

With regards to writing, my primary areas of interest and expertise include women’s issues, from careers and business to family and health, plus food, travel, lifestyle, arts and culture. As an editor, I have a wealth of experience editing a wide range of materials, from Ireland’s leading women’s magazine – IMAGE – to contract publications covering everything from parenting to business, education and the environment. I am especially interested in working more with book publishers, proofreading final drafts of fiction works and extensively editing non-fiction titles.

Clients include

IMAGE Media, Ashville Media Group, Folens, and Brown Thomas.

Examples of work undertaken

IMAGE Magazine (as Managing Editor and now Contributing Features Editor), Image Interiors & Living (sub-editing), Irish Wildlife – the magazine for the Irish Wildlife Trust (sub-editing), Trinity Today – the alumni magazine for Trinity College Dublin (sub-editing), All Aboard – Brown Thomas’ Christmas 2019 online magazine (sub-editing), A Buyer’s Guide to Irish Art (editor), Maternity Magazine (editor).

Testimonials

“Not only is Meg one of the most skilled and fastidious sub-editors in the industry – she is truly a master of her craft – but she is also a passionate arts editor and writer with her finger firmly on the Irish cultural pulse.” – Clodagh Edwards, CEO, IMAGE Media.

Additional information

No job is too big or too small – as long as I have a clear brief and adequate time to carefully work on a project, I will happily devote my energy to ensuring my clients’ message is clear, clean and concise and aimed at the targeted audience.
